Does anyone know enough about these to tell me if this is a good deal? I'm looking for a small car to tool around the city in.

My dad had one in college. It was his midlife crisis car. It liked to very suddenly empty the contents of the oil pan into the engine bay and billow black smoke.
It never working meant he had to bum rides off of his girlfriend at the time, who would later become his wife and my mom.
I'm pretty sure I would not exist if it wasn't for that car being a pile of shit.

As a Fiat expert I can say that the 850's are becoming more rare and will only go up in value. I have seen them sell from $1000-$4000. I say go for it.

Yeah, looks like a good deal. They've never been particularly valuable, but they're bound to get noticed eventually and they're easy to work on. Much more unique than a Spider and parts can be had. It is slow, but with the top down, you won't care.

I think you nailed it. I have my '69 Chrysler for highway duties and I'm looking for something to jet around the city in. I find I never go faster than 40 mph in Toronto anyways!

Go for it, then. I love the idea of an 850 Spider tooling around modern-day Toronto.
